City Sockets, 1988.  

The work was created for the “The Space of the 21st Century Civilization” competition organised by the International Academy of Architecture (IAA) and the International Forum of Young Architects (IFYA), Bulgaria, 1988. First prize.

 

Currently in these collections:

  • The State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia.
  • The Centre Pompidou, Paris, France.
  • The Museum of Modern Art, New York, USA.

 

Part of the “Futuristic urban education” project, as a “Mechanical work” exhibit, section “1:infinity scale”.

 

Project commentary (text fragment):

“Chronicles: five guys have drove off into the distance

one guided the others,

the other thought for all,

the third carried the fuel,

the fourth could speak,

and the fifth simply decided to tag along…”

 

Original material/colour: colour linocut, newspaper

Original size: 84×70 cm

 

Printed in three sizes – A5 (14.8×21 cm), A4 (21×29.7cm) and A3 (29.7x42cm) on 189gsm archival matte paper.

Sold unframed, and packaged in a transparent plastic sleeve with a heavyweight backing insert. Shipped flat in a bubblewrap lined envelope.
